The group also called for an independent probe into the disbursement and utilisation of the funds, which were released for the payment of allowances and bonuses owed to national teams and to support their preparations for international engagements.
The Arewa Youth Sports Forum (AYSF) has called on President Bola Tinubu to order an immediate investigation into the N17billion released by the Federal Government to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in January 2024, while demanding a comprehensive restructuring of the federation.
The group also called for an independent probe into the disbursement and utilisation of the funds, which were released for the payment of allowances and bonuses owed to national teams and to support their preparations for international engagements.
The demand was contained in a statement signed by the National Coordinator of the Arewa Youth Sports Forum, Comrade Yohanna Pam, who expressed concern over what the group described as “systemic collapse, financial recklessness, and institutionalized corruption” under the Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau-led NFF board.
According to the Forum, the N17billion intervention fund released in January 2024 was intended to clear outstanding bonuses and camp allowances and ensure that Nigeria’s national teams were adequately prepared for international competitions.
