KZN Hawks officer Deenadayalan Govender faces tough questions at the Madlanga Commission over an alleged R2.5m hit, suspicious cash deposits and staged police shootings.
KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Lieutenant-Colonel Deenadayalan Govender has begun his testimony before the Madlanga Commission, with the proceedings opening with the playing of voice recordings.
Govender took the stand on Friday afternoon as the commission examines allegations surrounding police operations in KwaZulu-Natal, including claims linked to the 2023 killing of tow-truck operator Bevan Loftus.
The alleged motive was a R2.5million contract killing commissioned by tow truck rival Clive Naicker.
"As far as Bevan is concerned. I do believe that he did own a tow truck business. But I have no knowledge of any threats of assassination made against him or information that there was a contract to kill him."
