KZN Hawks officer Deenadayalan Govender faces tough questions at the Madlanga Commission over an alleged R2.5m hit, suspicious cash deposits and staged police shootings.

KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Lieutenant-Colonel Deenadayalan Govender has begun his testimony at the Madlanga Commission on Friday afternoon.

Govender is facing serious allegations, one of which includes that he was paid millions to kill Bevan Loftus in April 2023.

The alleged motive was a R2.5million hit allegedly commissioned by tow truck rival Clive Naicker.

"As far as Bevan is concerned. I do believe that he did own a tow truck business. But I have no knowledge of any threats of assassination made against him or information that there was a contract to kill him."
