KZN Hawks officer Deenadayalan Govender faces tough questions at the Madlanga Commission over an alleged R2.5m hit, suspicious cash deposits and staged police shootings.

KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Lieutenant-Colonel Deenadayalan Govender has begun his testimony at the Madlanga Commission on Friday afternoon.

"At the onset I wish to record that I feel I am being unfairly targeted by Len John of IPID for an ulterior purpose.

"I am being used as a pawn to discredit Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the current KZN commissioner. It is common knowledge that this Commission was established pursuant to allegations by him."

Govender is expected to face tough questions at the Madlanga Commission over allegations linking him to an alleged R2.5 million hit, suspicious cash deposits and staged police shootings.
