Bond yields climbed Thursday, unwinding much of Wednesday's relief rally after the Treasury Department unveiled its doubled buyback program, with analysts skeptical that the move can counter the structural forces driving long-term rates upward.

The 30-year Treasury yield advanced 5.7 basis points to 5.251% and the 10-year added 5.1 basis points to reach 4.704%, putting both benchmarks near the levels that prevailed just before Bessent's Wednesday-morning announcement. The 2-year note ticked up 1.5 basis points to 4.1927%.
