This weekend, the spa town of Piešťany in western Slovakia will transform into a giant stage as the Piešťanské Zábaly theatre festival returns for its third and bigger than ever edition. Once again you can look forward to more than 60 performances across various venues, as well as and accompanying events including concerts, offering something for audiences of all ages. Classic rock fans are in for a treat this Saturday as legendary British band Jethro Tull performs at the Banská Bystrica amphitheatre as part of the Art Rock Festival 2026. The band will deliver two sets of progressive rock featuring its unmistakable flute sound and songs. One of the most influential rock bands of the 1970s, Jethro Tull continues to appeal to new generations of listeners. Fans can also look forward to strong supporting acts, including The Omega Testamentum, who will pay tribute to the legendary Hungarian band Omega. Learn more here.
Constructed in the latter half of the 13th century to protect a nearby trade route, Blatnica Castle had the unfortunate fate of passing through the hands of many noble families, resulting in countless disputes and hardship for their subjects. The castle itself suffered too: instead of being expanded and improved, it was repeatedly caught up in conflicts. After its last residents left at the end of the 18th century, its fate was sealed. Today, only parts of its fortifications remain.
