This Friday, the centre of Trenčín will become a stage for 300 musical instruments as part of a special performance titled Tuning the City. The civic association Združenie ooo spent two years creating the piece for the occasion of Trenčín being the European Capital of Culture this year.

According to the organisers, 100 professional and amateur musicians, along with 200 children and young people, will take part in the event, which explores whether harmony can be found in a shared world despite today’s conflicts. It also draws attention to the sounds of the city — both pleasant and less pleasant — that surround us in everyday life.

The three-hour performance begins at 17:00. Visitors can look forward to rhythmic improvisation for a ping-pong club, a song interpreting car licence plates in parking spaces, a composition for three forklifts, the Bratislava Improvisation Orchestra and more. Find out more here.
