Safety MMC JP Smith.
Cape Town Safety and Security Mayco member JP Smith has hit back at claims levelled against him by National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader Fadiel Adams during his testimony before the Madlanga Commission, describing the claims as baseless.
Adams, who is still giving evidence before the commission, alleged that Smith was implicated in a plot to have him killed.
Adams, who is still testifying before the commission, alleged that Smith had used a newly elected councillor to approach a former gang leader in connection with the alleged plot.
He claimed the former gang leader was told his City tenders could be cancelled because Adams had been “prying” and further alleged that more than one person had made statements under oath linking Smith to the alleged plot.
