The German government is to contribute €50 million towards repairs to the New Safe Confinement at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was damaged by a Russian drone.

Details: The funds are expected to be paid into the International Chornobyl Cooperation Account, through which repairs to the damaged confinement structure are financed.

Yesterday Shmyhal discussed the funding with Carsten Schneider, Germany's Federal Minister for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. A German delegation also visited the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and inspected the confinement arch and its infrastructure.
