The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Salem Railway Division (SRD) Panna Lal said on Saturday (August 15, 2026) that the passenger earnings of the division has increased by 11.52% compared with the corresponding period last year.The 80th Independence Day was celebrated by the SRM at the DRM’s office, and Mr. Lal hoisted the National Flag and outlined the performance highlights of the division. The division effectively met the increasing travel requirements of its passengers through various train services.The passenger earnings of the division during January-July 2026 were ₹509.25 crore. The division earned ₹209.19 crore through freight loading during January-July, 2026, which is 2.67 % more than the amount earned during the corresponding period last year. The revenue earned through parcel loading stands at ₹15.83 crore (13.07% more than the revenue generated during the same period last year). The division also earned over ₹16.46 crore through ticket-checking drives during January-July, 2026, marking an increase of 17.3% over the amount earned during the corresponding period last year.
