The Tiruchi Railway Division handled 14.60 million originating passengers from April to July in the current fiscal as against 13.94 million passengers during the corresponding period of the previous year registering a 4.74 % rise, Tiruchi Divisional Railway Manager Balak Ram Negi said on Saturday.Passenger earnings generated during this period in the current fiscal was ₹207. 71 crore registering a growth of 10.8%, Mr. Negi said speaking at the 80th Independence Day celebration organised by the Tiruchi Division at the railway stadium here.Mr. Negi said smart monitoring systems were provided at 138 non-interlocked level-crossings with live monitoring enabled at 97 gates in the division. Four level-crossings were eliminated during April-July 2026 and 3.4 km of boundary wall and w-beam fencing completed. A new full-length line and lead line were commissioned at the Tiruchi Goods Yard. Train frequencies were increased and additional halts provided at several stations across the division. Six pairs of trains were converted to modern LHB rakes for improved passenger comfort.On-grid solar plants have been set up in Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Vriddhachalam, and Ariyalur with a combined capacity of 225 kWp.
