A 30-year-old resident of the Vinnytsia region suspected of illegally helping men of military conscription age cross the border has been returned to Ukraine from Moldova.

The extradition took place at the Mohyliv-Podilskyi border crossing, Ukrinform reports, citing Ukraine's State Border Guard Service.

"The suspect found his 'clients' mainly through personal contacts and connections. After officers of the Mohyliv-Podilskyi Border Guard Detachment, together with police investigators, established his involvement in the illegal activity, the man decided to evade responsibility and hide in Moldova," the statement said.

As part of proceedings under Article 332 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which covers the illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine, he was notified of the suspicion in absentia and placed on the wanted list.

The Ukrainian side promptly provided its Moldovan counterparts with all the necessary materials and evidence of the suspect's involvement in the illegal activity. Despite his attempts to obtain temporary protection in Moldova, courts at all levels rejected his requests.
