Law enforcement officers in Kyiv detained a Russian citizen suspected of organizing an illegal scheme to help military-eligible men leave Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, the Kyiv City Police Department stated this on its website.
The 25-year-old suspect is a Russian citizen who holds a residence permit in Ukraine.
Investigators established that, for $9,000, the suspect promised to arrange the escape of military-eligible men abroad. The "service" included providing instructions and routes, creating conditions for unhindered departure from Ukraine, and coordinating all of the escapee's actions. The woman demanded the entire amount upfront, without an advance payment or installments.
