The Headmaster of a government school in Kanniyakumari district has been transferred and departmental inquiry has been initiated following the circulation of video on social media purportedly showing school students allegedly consuming alcohol on the school premises.Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap told The Hindu that the headmaster of the school had been transferred and a departmental inquiry had been initiated. He added that the incident was reported to have occurred a few weeks ago after a half-day special class.Mr. Prathap further noted that officials from the health department, counsellors and others have visited the school on Friday and checked with the students. He added that the person who had provided alcohol to the students had been identified and would be remanded shortly.According to police, Thuckalay police has registered a case against the individual who had provided alcohol to the students.
