The hairdryer was directed at Dahlia-Rose for up to an hour, causing burns to 18 per cent of her body before she died at the scene from heat stroke and hypothermia. Judge Simon Collins KC described the case as “uniquely disturbing” and called Gartshore's actions a gross breach of the most basic duty as a parent. Gartshore received her sentence at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday after being convicted of culpable homicide at a trial in Aberdeen in July.
