She was jailed for at least 19 years at the High Court in Glasgow following the infant's death on 14 July 2023 in Greenock, Inverclyde. Lord Scott, who imposed the sentence, dismissed Blain's "absurd" claims that another child was responsible for Thea's death. Blain was found guilty last month, having been charged with murder by repeatedly shaking her daughter and inflicting blunt force trauma. Police received a report of a baby having taken unwell at a property in Greenock. Thea later died at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
