Respectful. That's the first word everyone who knows Duduzane often uses to describe him. Those who don't know him feel differently - purely because he is his father's son. The son of Jacob Zuma. And now, parachuted into the position of deputy president of his father's party, uMkhonto weSizwe (MK).
Having met Duduzane a few times, I've actually come to like him - forget who he is. He is respectful. Humble. Soft-spoken and charming. Like his dad, he's a female magnet, but in a quiet way. No Umshini Wami moves needed.And together, they make a formidable force - appealing to tradition and a younger generation, never mind the public dismissals from other parties. Behind closed doors, they're nervously watching.
"That was a good move from Zuma. Duduzane has appeal with the youth. He is also well-spoken. We can't ignore all that. Their target voter doesn't care about his lack of political experience. It's the Zuma factor that works, so yes, we are nervous but won't admit it publicly," a key leader of one of the political parties told me.
