A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a seven-year-old girl in Pulaneng Village, Limpopo, after he confronted the girl and her friends as they walked home from school, dragged her into nearby bushes, and raped her.
Tebogo Raymond Malatji appeared before the Naphuno Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, where he was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the incident occurred on January 8, 2024, as the victim was walking home from school with friends when they were confronted by Malatji.
“He chased the group, grabbed the victim and dragged her to the nearby bushes where he instructed her to lie on the ground and suddenly raped her.”
