MAKATI CITY — Education Secretary Sonny Angara has requested Malacañang to expand emergency labor support through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) program to fast-track the cleanup of public schools affected by the recent enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) and Tropical Storm Maymay, while establishing a year-round recovery framework under Brigada Eskwela 2.0.
Angara expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, and Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Secretary Francis Tolentino for their continued support for inter-agency convergence.
“While clearing efforts have been instrumental, the scale of the damage underscores the need for additional inter-agency assistance and resource augmentation to expedite debris removal, cleanup, and the restoration of safe and functional learning spaces,” Angara said.
