Apple has opened a major manufacturing facility in Houston, started shipping AI servers from it months ahead of schedule, and announced plans for an Advanced Manufacturing Center focused on workforce training.
The Houston operation sits inside a 250,000-square-foot facility that effectively doubles Apple’s existing footprint in the city. AI servers began shipping from the site in October 2025, beating the original 2026 target. Those servers, assembled with onsite-produced logic boards, are destined for Apple data centers across the US.
What Apple is actually building
The servers coming out of Houston are the hardware backbone for Apple’s Private Cloud Compute and Apple Intelligence features. Instead of relying entirely on third-party infrastructure, Apple is manufacturing its own server hardware domestically.
Apple announced on February 24, 2026, that it would begin assembling Mac minis in Houston. That’s the first time the device has ever been produced on US soil.
