Harry Howell, the 18-year-old attacking midfielder who became Brighton’s youngest-ever Premier League starter earlier this year, has joined Leicester City on a season-long loan. Howell signed a new long-term contract with Brighton running through 2029 before heading out on loan.

From Anfield cameos to League One trenches

Born on 20 April 2008, Howell made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Liverpool in May 2025 at just 17 years old. By February 2026, he had become Brighton’s youngest-ever Premier League starter. Over the course of the season, he racked up four Premier League appearances, including that historic start, and contributed goals and assists in domestic cup competitions.

His performances earned him caps with the England under-18 national team. Bayer Leverkusen were reportedly among the clubs that had expressed interest in Howell.
