In a breakthrough in the Bidar ATM robbery-cum-murder case that had shocked the State, the Bidar police have arrested two key accused in Bihar after a dramatic chase.The accused, identified as Aman Kumar Singh and Alok Kumar, were arrested near Dhamodar village in Vaishali district in Bihar after the police tracked and chased their vehicle.The arrests come nearly one and a half years after the crime. The police had reportedly obtained crucial information about the suspects around 20 days ago and had since been closely monitoring their movements.A special operation was carried out under the leadership of Bidar Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti, culminating in the arrests on Wednesday (August 12). The accused are being brought to Bidar for further investigation.The operation is notable as the Bidar police managed to apprehend the accused without seeking assistance from the police of any other State.The robbery took place in broad daylight on January 16, 2025, near the SBI bank in the heart of Bidar city. Armed robbers, arriving on motorcycles attacked employees of CMS Agency and fled with around ₹83 lakh in cash.During the attack, the robbers opened fire, killing Giri Venkatesh on the spot. Another employee, Shivakumar Gunnalli, sustained serious injuries.The Bidar police had been conducting an extensive investigation to trace the accused since the incident. The arrest of the two accused is expected to provide a major lead in the investigation.The police are likely to uncover further details about the robbery, the other suspects and the planning behind the crime during the course of the investigation.
