Two men allegedly linked to the shooting at Roshan Travels in Afzalgunj nearly 18 months ago, have been arrested by the Karnataka police in Bidar, giving investigators a fresh lead in the case.The suspects, Manish Kushwaha and his associate Amit Kumar, were reportedly traced to Bidar before being taken into custody on Wednesday (August 12) there. Bidar police are questioning them in connection with the cases registered in Karnataka.Hyderabad’s Afzalgunj police are now preparing to seek their custody through a production transit warrant (PT warrant) so that the duo can be brought to the city and produced before a court here. Police said Amit Kumar and another suspect, Alok Kumar, are suspected to have taken part in the firing at Afzalgunj.The men were involved in the robbery of ₹93 lakh during an ATM cash replenishment operation in Bidar on January 16, 2025. During the robbery, ATM security guard Giri Venkatesh was shot dead, while another guard, Shivakumar, suffered injuries.After the Bidar robbery, the suspects allegedly travelled to Hyderabad and visited Roshan Travels in Afzalgunj to book tickets to Raipur. A travel agency employee, Mohammed Jahangir, reportedly grew suspicious after noticing bundles of cash in their luggage. When he questioned them, one of the suspects allegedly opened fire, injuring him. The arrests in Bidar are expected to help investigators piece together the movements of the suspects following the ATM robbery and establish their role in the Afzalgunj shooting.
