A 24-year-old man from Bihar has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife in Bengaluru, wrapping her body in a bedsheet, abandoning it inside their rented house, and fleeing.The accused has been identified as Dhiraj Kumar, a resident of East Champaran district in Bihar.Kumar had allegedly fled to his native place, where he was traced subsequently and arrested by the Kumbalagodu police. The victim has been identified as Reema Kumari.According to the police, the couple rented a room in a four-storey building in Gerupalya near Kumbalagodu in December 2025. On July 29, around 6.30 p.m., Kumari’s friend visited the couple’s house and noticed a foul smell emanating from it. Subsequently, she alerted the building owner.When the owner opened the door using a spare key, Kumari’s decomposed body, wrapped in a bedsheet near the toilet, was discovered, after which a complaint was filed. During the investigation, when the officers couldn’t reach her husband, the police formed a special team to trace him and located him in his hometown.During interrogation, the accused allegedly told the police that he married Kumari after bringing her from Bihar to Bengaluru around 10 months ago without informing her family. The couple had been living together in the city ever since.The police said frequent quarrels after the marriage over sharing responsibilities led to the murder. The accused allegedly strangled his wife to death and fled to Bihar in an attempt to evade arrest.
