MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Thursday spoke out against against asking misleading questions during the cross-examination of witnesses in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, saying such questions could lead to wrong answers.

On the 15th day of Duterte’s impeachment trial, prosecutor Lorna Kapunan objected to defense lawyer Kristine Ferrer’s line of questioning, saying it was misleading.

“As a lawyer,basic, this is so basic. Misleading questions are not allowed, especially during cross-examination,” said Palace press officer Claire Castro at a briefing when asked for a reaction on the matter.
