MANILA, Philippines — Private prosecutor Lorna Kapunan and defense lawyer Kristine Ferrer came face-to-face again on Wednesday over the issue of asking misleading questions when cross examining witnesses in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Before conducting cross-examination of the prosecution’s hostile witness Lemuel Ortonio, Ferrer clarified her August 12 remark in the Senate impeachment court while she was cross-examining the first hostile witness of the prosecution, state auditor Xylene del Campo.
“Just to put the record straight, Your Honor. When I said they are allowed, I was referring to leading questions,” the defense lawyer said.
In fact, she said, she was asking a leading question to del Campo when Kapunan objected.
