MANILA, Philippines — While many may consider her performance in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial to be a masterclass on how litigation should be done, counsel for the prosecution Lorna Kapunan attributed it to preparation and being aware of the climate inside the courtroom.
In a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon, after Day 13 of the impeachment trial, Kapunan said that experience plays a part too, saying that if it were her, she would have not read the defense panel’s pleadings regarding the prosecution’s request for a judicial notice on the House of Representatives hearings on issues faced by Duterte.
Kapunan said that years of experience would tell her that nobody would listen to such arguments, and that it would be better to just file the documents before the court. But even so, Kapunan said no amount of experience will be enough if they will not study.
