MANILA, Philippines — The bulk of the preparations of the prosecution team for Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment proceedings — along with the reported mock trial being done — are all meant to sharpen and refine the lawmakers’ skills on litigation.

This is the view of 1-Rider party-list Rep. Ramon Rodrigo Gutierrez.

Gutierrez, in an online interview on Friday, was asked if the lack of recent litigation experience within the 11-person prosecution team — due to different circumstances, like being in public office — is a concern among the lawmakers.

The lawmaker said he would not consider it a weak point, but admitted that a huge part of the preparations is focused on litigation, especially since evidence gathering has almost been completed following the hearings by the House committee on justice.
