The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has demanded answers over the six-month captivity of 163 residents abducted during the February 3, 2026, terrorist invasion of Woro and neighbouring Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The party’s state Youth Leader, Adio Odunjo, made the demand on Wednesday at a press conference held at the PDP state secretariat in Ilorin to commemorate the 2026 International Youth Day.
The demand came shortly after Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed that the 163 Woro residents had regained their freedom following a coordinated security operation deep inside the Kainji Lake National Park forest.
The governor, in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Thursday, said the operation also rescued about 145 kidnap victims from neighbouring Niger State, describing the mission as a breakthrough in the fight against terrorism and kidnapping.
AbdulRazaq credited the successful operation to the combined efforts of security agencies and acknowledged the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in ensuring the victims were freed.
