The Kwara State Government announced on Wednesday that 176 victims abducted during an attack on the Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area on February 3, 2026, have regained their freedom.
The administration shared the update via its official Facebook page, months after the residents were taken. The government stated: “Alhamdulillah and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, security forces, and everyone involved in this great achievement. We are grateful!”
The victims were seized when suspected Boko Haram-linked extremists invaded the rural settlements on motorcycles, executing a coordinated assault that endured for several hours. The offensive ranks among the deadliest incidents in Kwara State history. Reports indicate it left more than 200 people dead, injured numerous others, razed residential and commercial properties, and forced survivors to flee. Local vigilantes attempting to fend off the aggressors were overpowered, with several reportedly trapped and incinerated inside their office.
