Kwara State Governor, AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to intensify efforts to secure the release of the 176 women and children abducted from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, citing the recent rescue of kidnapped schoolchildren and teachers in neighbouring Oyo State as a model of responsive leadership.

The victims were abducted during a night raid on February 3, 2026, and have not been released despite military operations, government assurances and repeated public protests.

The opposition party made the call in a statement issued on Saturday by its State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, while congratulating the Oyo State Government on the successful rescue of the victims after more than 50 days in captivity.

The PDP described the operation as evidence that determined leadership, sustained public engagement and effective collaboration with security agencies could produce results in tackling insecurity.
