The Bulgarian government adopted its Governance Program for 2026-2030 at a meeting on August 12, setting out its priorities for the remainder of the current term and the country's longer-term development.
The document is based on the election program of the ruling Progressive Bulgaria coalition and places a strong emphasis on restoring statehood, strengthening the rule of law and rebuilding public confidence in state institutions. It also aims to reinforce a sense of shared national responsibility and accelerate Bulgaria's modernization toward the living standards of developed European countries.
The government's stated vision is for Bulgaria to become a modern European country with effective institutions, a competitive economy and a high quality of life, supported by a sustainable social model based on the rule of law, social justice, knowledge, innovation and responsible management of public resources.
A central element of the program is the dismantling of what the government describes as oligarchic and corrupt models of governance. The document calls for restoring the rule of law, increasing transparency and accountability across public institutions, and ensuring that public resources are managed and distributed fairly and lawfully.
