Sharks CEO Shaun Bryans in an interview broke down the impact of SharksFest and the new brands they have partnered with.

Bryans said that the Sharks have always offered more than a game of rugby to fans. “The SharksFest has been huge for us. If you go back into the history of The Sharks, the Hollywoodbets Kings Park is synonymous with tailgate parties and fans coming and having braais and it has always been a feature of rugby. What we experienced up until the Covid-19 pandemic about 2021 was a gradual decline in the popularity of fans coming into the stadium to watch a game live.”

Bryans added that a part of that is that as technology has evolved and developed there is a lot of competition for what people can do on a Saturday and lots of forms of entertainment. “We also find that some people like to stay at home and watch rugby. This got us thinking on what we can do to give fans incentive to come back and watch live rugby. The trend globally is towards live events including live music and post the Covid-19 pandemic people want to experience this and to feel that they are a part of the community.”
