Marnus Potgieter of the Sharks XV is tackled by Gary Porter of the Stormers XXIII during the 2026 Carling Currie Cup, On Saturday Sharks overcame Boland in their KwaMashu outing as they aim to spread news of the club rebranding.
A week of seismic change at the Shark Tank concluded with the Sharks taking their Currie Cup campaign into the heart of KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday evening, when they hosted Boland at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
It was a fitting way to round off a week in which the Sharks unveiled a bold new identity — and it won’t be the last time the Currie Cup team takes the game to new communities around the province.
The match was played before an enthusiastic crowd, with admission free at the gates and the stadium alive with singing supporters and the smoke of braais drifting across the stands.
There was plenty for the home fans to celebrate, too, as the Sharks overcame Boland 19-12 to climb the Currie Cup log.
