Vusi Moyo is among the Sharks youngesters who excelled in the Springbok colours in Gqeberha recently.
The doubleheader at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium last week showcased much of South Africa’s emerging rugby talent, and none was more pleased than Sharks coach JP Pietersen.
Between the SA A team and the Springboks, 120 points and 18 tries were scored, many of them by youngsters from Durban — 10 Sharks were playing for the Boks and five in the SA A lineup.
No Sharks fan needs reminding that their team failed to make the United Rugby Championship quarter-finals. Still, the promise of better things to come was reflected in the Sharks’ last three home games as they scored an average of 50 points against Munster, Benetton, and Zebre.
“The way we ended the URC showed that anything is possible with the youth coming through in the group — they are brave and full of energy,” Pietersen said. “We want to build on those performances going into the new season.”
