Despite the mixed results in Currie Cup opening rounds, Sharks coach Mike Vowles believes his young squad has laid a solid foundation as they return home with KwaMashu outing.
After negotiating a demanding opening stretch of three consecutive away matches, the Sharks will finally enjoy home comforts this weekend – while also taking the Currie Cup to a new audience.
The Sharks host the Boland Cavaliers at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu on Saturday (5.15pm kick-off), hoping the backing of a passionate Durban crowd will help them build on an encouraging start to the competition.
The Durban side opened their campaign with a win over the Pumas in Mbombela before suffering narrow defeats to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein and the Stormers XXIII in Cape Town.
Boland, meanwhile, burst out of the blocks with convincing home victories in their opening two matches before coming unstuck against the visiting Pumas last weekend, going down 20-15.
