For Lusanda Meje and Sesethu Dingaan, entrepreneurship is more than a way to make a living. It has become a journey towards independence, confidence and creating opportunities despite the challenges they face.
The two young women from Delft and Nyanga Crossroads respectively are among 44 young people living with disabilities who graduated from Engen’s 18-month New Venture Creation Learnership in February 2026.
Since completing the programme, the women have used the skills they gained to build their own businesses, turning ideas they once had into ventures with the potential to grow.
For Meje, who lives with epilepsy, entrepreneurship has given her an opportunity to pursue her ambitions while challenging perceptions about what people living with disabilities can achieve.
