PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – A construction worker died on Tuesday morning after being struck by a falling tree while he and three others were cutting it with a chainsaw in Barangay Saad, Dumingag town, Zamboanga del Sur.
Capt. Derf Jay Maquinta, spokesperson of the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, said initial investigation revealed that the 57‑year‑old victim, a resident of Tabina, Zamboanga del Sur, was with three other workers, including the chainsaw operator, when a large Talisay tree unexpectedly fell and hit him on the head at around 9:30 a.m.

The worker sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Dumingag Rural Health Unit but was declared dead on arrival.
