The Enugu State Police Command has said it is embarking on immediate enforcement of traffic laws across the state.
It added that police officers would henceforth arrest and prosecute motorists who violate existing regulations.
The command said the directive followed the increasing disregard for traffic rules by motorists, which had resulted in gridlock, disruption of free movement, road crashes, and loss of lives, as well as destruction of property.
The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Giwa, said the latest directive is in line with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu’s order on nationwide enforcement of traffic laws.
The police said the enforcement was aimed at restoring calm and order on Nigerian roads and safeguarding lives and property.
