Apartment owners in Slovakia need consent before installing a unit on a shared façade.
Installing air conditioning in a flat in Slovakia may require approval from the neighbours.
The issue is not the air conditioner itself, but where its outdoor unit is placed. The façade of an apartment building is common property, so an owner who wants to attach a unit to it must obtain the consent of more than half of the building’s owners.
This also applies when the unit is installed on a balcony.
Some apartment buildings have rules setting out where units can be placed and how they should be installed.
