A body comprising princes, princesses and traditional leaders from the Zulu Royal House has broken its silence over allegations that it is plotting to dethrone King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
Abakhuseli beSihlalo (Protectors of the Throne), which was established by the late Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Monarch and Nation, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, held a media briefing in Durban this week to reject the claims, insisting it fully supports the King and has no intention of undermining his reign.
The response follows remarks by King Misuzulu, who criticised the organisation for convening a media briefing without informing him and questioned its legitimacy, saying he was unaware of its existence and that it had no authority to speak on matters concerning the throne.
The King made the remarks during the annual ceremony, uMkhosi weSivivane, that celebrates womanhood, promoting women's empowerment, and fostering social cohesion, at the eMashobeni Royal Palace in oPhongolo, where he cautioned attendees about the organisation's activities.
