Buthelezi harshly criticised the unauthorised mobilisation of Zulu regiments and cautioned that such conduct undermined royal protocols.

Zulu Traditional Prime Minister Thulasizwe Buthelezi has warned that no individual has the authority to declare themselves part of an ibutho (regiment) or mobilise King Misuzulu kaZwelithini's amabutho without proper authorisation from the Zulu monarch and traditional leadership structures.

Buthelezi was speaking at an event where former Zulu Royal Chancellor Malusi Zondi was formally recognised in a new role conferred upon him by the King.

Addressing those in attendance, Buthelezi stressed the importance of respecting established traditional structures and leadership within the Zulu nation. His remarks come amid growing concerns over the unsanctioned mobilisation of regiments and their involvement in politically charged campaigns.

"The Zulu monarch, during the Isandlwana commemoration, said that here in KwaZulu we are peaceful and welcoming people. The King has never said people must arm themselves and prepare for war," said Buthelezi.
