MANILA, Philippines – Senator-judge Juan Miguel Zubiri suggested on Tuesday that the impeachment trial be held in the afternoons instead of in the morning before the plenary so that discussions are not cut short to make way for legislative sessions.

“May I make a suggestion that we move our legislative sessions in the morning at 10, and have the impeachment trial at three in the afternoon, so we are not hampered by our legislative calendar when discussions such as these are important,” Zubiri, also the Senate majority leader, told the impeachment court.

After the 20th Congress’ second regular session began on July 27, the impeachment trial was scheduled every Mondays to Wednesdays from 10 a.m., and was cut before the plenary session on the same days at 3 p.m.
