SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Initial farm damage from the combined effects of the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay (international name: Kujira) in this province was estimated at P2.15 million.
This covered losses to rice crops, fisheries, and agricultural infrastructure, according to data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).
Rolex Estella, head of PDRRMC, clarified that the figures were based on the initial assessment of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs), with their office still awaiting more comprehensive reports from the field.
