A 29-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder and rape of a 7-year-old girl in Bultfontein after her body was found hidden beneath a bed in a shack.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested on charges of murder and rape after the body of a 7-year-old girl was discovered beneath a bed in a shack in Phahameng, Bultfontein, Free State police said on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Loraine Earle said officers were called to a murder scene in the Phahameng location on Sunday, August 9, 2026, where they made the grim discovery.
“On their arrival, they were directed to a shack. There, they discovered the motionless body of the female victim. The victim was found with her pants pulled down and injuries on her neck,” Earle said.
Emergency medical services personnel declared the child dead at the scene.
