The weekly grievances redress day was held at Salem and Namakkal districts on Monday (August 10, 2026).At the Salem Collectorate people who came to submit their petitions were allowed to enter after being checked by the police. District Collector K. Elambahavath presided over the meeting and received the petitions from the public. A total of 470 petitions, including seeking old age pension, land patta, patta transfer, community certificate, job opportunities, bank loans, educational assistance, assistance for persons with disabilities, equipment, drinking water, and road facilities. The Collector also received 12 petitions from persons with disabilities and instructed officials concerned to take action on the petitions at a stipulated time. He also handed over artificial limbs worth ₹15.07 lakh to 12 beneficiaries.During the meeting, an alms seeker, Pandian (72), a native of Thoothukudi district, came to the Salem Collectorate and handed over ₹10,000 for the CM’s relief fund. He has already donated the money several times at Salem and Namakkal district Collectorates.Demanding not to privatise drinking water supply in Salem Corporation, Parthiban, a resident of Dadagapatti, a social activist, came to the Collectorate with water pots and submitted his petition.Likewise, at the Namakkal district Collectorate, Collector L. Madhubalan received a total of 680 petitions from the public and instructed the officials to sort the issues mentioned in the petitions.
