LUCENA CITY – A total of 25,322 families have been affected by persistent rains brought by Tropical Depression “Maymay” and the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, in various parts of the Calabarzon region, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Monday (August 10).

The affected families are from 286 barangays in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, according to the DSWD Field Office in Region IV-A, citing data from the Disaster Response Operations Monitoring as of 7:30 p.m. Sunday (August 9).

Of the total, 9,806 families either sought shelter in evacuation centers or temporarily stayed with relatives or friends, the agency said.
