The Meta CEO argues for distributing AI broadly, announces a $1 billion community fund, and calls for earlier government access to models

Meta $META CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a 6,500-word essay on Monday pushing back on what he described as a doom-laden discourse inside the AI industry, arguing that spreading powerful AI tools as broadly as possible — rather than concentrating them — is the path to both economic growth and safety.
"It is surprising that the discourse from many developing AI is so filled with doom," Zuckerberg wrote. "The notion that AI is so dangerous that the only safe path is an extreme concentration of power seems inherently problematic."
