International youth volunteers have helped build a new canteen at Malie Primary School through a project fully funded by Humanitarian Experience (HXP).
HXP is a nonprofit organisation founded in 1999 that organises two-week international service trips for teenagers aged 14 to 19.
The project follows a recent Samoa Observer story highlighting young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints working on the construction of the school canteen.
The young volunteers were participating in an HXP programme, with participants known as “Builders” travelling to communities around the world to work on projects including schools and clinics.
Muagututi’a Hans Jason Joseph said HXP independently funded the Malie Primary School project, including construction materials and local workers.
