The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have seized more than 3.5 tonnes of cannabis in a series of coordinated anti-narcotics operations across Ondo, Oyo, Edo, Abia and Lagos states, leading to the arrest of several suspected drug traffickers and dealers.
The agency said the operations, carried out between August 3 and August 8, also led to the interception of cannabis-infused cookies and gummies imported through the Tin Can Port in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the NDLEA's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the agency said one of the largest seizures occurred along the Akure-Ilesha Expressway in Ondo State.
